Using desktop

There are two different methods in the desktop version of excel through which we can hide/unhide rows.

Using direct hide/unhide options

In this method firstly, we choose those rows which we want to hide. In this example below I select the third row.

Hiding rows

We can also select multiple rows. In the below picture we can see that I select rows 3, 4 and 5. Then, select the 'Hide' option.

Now, you can see that the selected rows are hidden.

Unhiding rows

To unhide the rows select those two rows which are nearest to the missing or hidden rows. In my case, I am selecting rows 2, 6.

Then, ‘right-click’ on those two rows and select unhide option. In this way, the hidden rows could be shown.

Using format option

We can also use the format option to hide or unhide rows in excel. However, it is a little bit more time-consuming as compared to the first method.

Hiding rows

To hide rows using the format option just select the rows you want to hide and go to the format option from the top menu. Then, select Visibility> Hide & Unhide > Hide Rows.

Unhiding rows

To unhide the hidden rows from this method select those two rows which are nearest from the top and bottom of the missing or hidden rows. Then, go to the format option from the top menu. After that, select Visibility> Hide&Unhide > Unhide Rows.

Using the mobile app

We can also hide our data in the mobile version of excel software. It is easier than desktop as the option appears automatically after selecting the rows.

Hiding rows

To hide rows in the mobile app, first, we should select the rows we want to hide. For example, in case I select rows 4 & 5.

Now, the options have automatically appeared below the data table. Just click on the 'Hide' option to hide rows.

Unhiding rows

To unhide the hidden rows, first, we should select the row above them. Then, the options will appear. Just click on 'Unhide' option to unhide the hidden rows.
